As we age we lose collagen and elastin which results in a loss of skin laxity, fat pads separate and our bones remodel leading to a loss of facial structure and volume. This can result in loss of skin laxity, loss of contour, facial lines and wrinkles and can make you look and feel ‘tired’ in appearance.
Dermal filler injections are a non-surgical option to aid in volume restoration, smoothing lines and sculpting the facial features. Dermal fillers consist of a natural product found within our own body (hyaluronic acid). This gel like substance is placed specifically in areas of the face to aid in restoration of fat pad loss or bone changes and results in a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. Dermal fillers can also be placed to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers are a safe and effective treatment, lasting upwards of 12-18 months. Dermal fillers required minimal downtime with the ability to carry on normal routine in as little as 24 hours post treatment. They can be combined with anti-wrinkle injections as a tailored treatment plan.
Your practitioner will choose a filler specific for your needs which may include hydration fillers, volumizing fillers and specific lip volumizing fillers. Our expert team of practitioners will help you select the best option to achieve your desired result.
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme used to break down hyaluronic acid-based fillers. In the instance where you are unhappy with results from previous dermal filler treatments (including filler migration), you can book in to have these fillers dissolved. If you are looking to refill after dissolving, you will be required to wait a 2 week period prior to refilling. If you’re unsure whether dissolving is an option for you, book a consultation with the team to receive a thorough assessment.
As with any cosmetic treatment, there are some potential risks associated with dermal fillers. These risks may include bruising, swelling, infection, allergic reactions, or other complications. However, these risks are rare, and our experienced clinicians will take all necessary precautions to ensure your treatment is safe and effective.
